The Next Step for Origin
I am excited to announce that I received a letter in the mail from the IRS officially declaring Origin Expeditions as a tax exempt organization under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3)! This has been a highly anticipated moment as it opens many doors for the organization. Some of these include:
The ability to receive tax deductible contributions from donors.
Eligibility to launch fundraising campaigns as a legitimate non-profit
Eligibility to apply for grants
That being said, we’ll be starting a gofundme.com page this week to begin our fundraising process (donors will also be able to contribute directly through the website) in addition to writing grants. Our other biggest agenda item will be increasing traffic to our website and social media pages. This will help our website appear in google searches and attract potential clients, contributors, and collaborators. I think a big part of this will be steering away from minimally engaging blog content like this and instead posting things that are much more stimulating!
I’ve been generating lots of media from the ski mountaineering road trip and there is more on the way. I intend to use what I’ve gathered to post a series of trip reports that are not only exciting to read, but also packed with enough information for anyone with the equipment, fitness, and desire to execute the trips themselves. You can look forward to the first trip report later this week (related image below)!
